Rich in Funds, Poor in Direction. I asked him a single question, and he responded with a love story.

A real estate developer had ample investment funds, but he just couldn’t decide on the design direction. He went through several designers and multiple proposals, yet he always felt something was “not quite right.”
He came to me and said he wanted to dig deeper into the real needs.
After two hours of conversation, I asked him:
“If one day this hotel is finally built and makes it onto a magazine cover, what do you most hope to see in that cover photo?”
He didn’t answer immediately.
He paused, the corners of his mouth slightly lifted, and his eyes looked up and to the right - I knew he was “seeing” something in his mind.
I gently asked, “What do you see?”
After a few seconds of silence, he told me a complete love story.
What he wanted to build wasn’t just a hotel. It was a gift for his wife - a tribute to the road they walked together when they were young, that little shop, and that beautiful sunset.
The designers never knew this story. That’s why they could never draw the “right” design.
After that conversation, the design direction never changed again.
If you also have money and ideas, but struggle to express them clearly, send me a private message with the word “See”. I’ll reply with one question.
