他坐在对面，眉头拧着。
业务下滑。明知要变，又不敢跳出舒适圈。
前半小时，我没插话。听他讲。不可能、没办法、不知道、不确定，像卡住的唱片，一圈一圈转。
我等他说完。
“陈总，”我说，“刚才你说了3次不可能，4次没办法，5次不知道，3次不确定。那我想问 ......有什么，是有可能的？”
他愣了一下。
“……办法是有的。但我没有信心跳出去。”
“信心是结果，”我说，“勇气是过程。下一步，你有勇气做什么？”
他又绕回去了。不可能、没办法、不知道。又转了十五分钟。
我没打断。
等他停下来，我问：“你看到自己的闭环了吗？”
“……看到了。”
“你的选择是？”
他沉默了一会儿。
“我决定回家，跟太太研究一下。把我能做的第一步，定下来。”
“好。你需要我时，我在。”

He sat across from me, brows tightly furrowed. Business was declining. He knew he needed to change, but he didn’t dare step out of his comfort zone.

For the first half hour, I didn’t interrupt. I just listened. “Impossible… no way… I don’t know… not sure…”  - the same words kept looping like a broken record.

When he finally finished, I looked at him and said, “Mr. Chen, in the last 30 minutes you’ve said ‘impossible’ three times, ‘no way’ four times, ‘I don’t know’ five times, and ‘not sure’ three times. So let me ask you…

What is possible?”

He was stunned for a moment. “…There are ways, but I don’t have the confidence to take the leap.”

“Confidence is the result,” I said. “Courage is the process. What’s one thing you have the courage to do next?”

He circled back again - impossible, no way, I don’t know - for another fifteen minutes. I didn’t interrupt.

When he finally stopped, I asked: “Do you see the loop you’re stuck in?”

“…Yes, I do.”

“What’s your choice now?”

After a long silence, he said, “I’ll go home tonight and discuss it with my wife. I’ll decide on the very first step I can take.”

“Good. I’m here whenever you need me.”
