Business is declining. Layoffs are looming. The problem isn't "poor marketing." It's stuck in "being too shy to ask."

I had an hour-long conversation with the owner of a well-known MEP consulting firm.

He said, “Business has been terrible since the pandemic. I can barely keep things afloat - might have to let people go. I’m not good at marketing. I don‘t know what to do next.”

I asked him, “Have you ever asked your clients for their honest feedback?”

He paused. “To be honest… no. Never.”

I said, “Then ask now. I used to be your client, too. Ask me. Forget that I’m your coach - just ask me like I’m a client.”

He was a bit uncomfortable, but he asked anyway.

I gave him my feedback - straight, point by point.

After hearing it, he said, “I’ve never thought about that. And no one has ever told me this.”

That day, he went back and invited his old clients for tea. He asked them just one question: “Where can we do better?”

He changed his service process. Six months later, the business recovered. No layoffs.

If you’ve been stuck in the same “I don’t know how to market” loop for too long, reach out. Let‘s find the root of your problem together. Your time and energy deserve to be spent on goals that actually pay off.
